Daily College Fantasy Football Picks – Week 8 (Thursday/Friday)

Interesting Thursday/Friday matchups. There’s some decent defenses … and there’s some QB turnover on the rosters. The Fresno St/Boise St game is the highest O/U by about 10 points so I’d focus on that game. The VTech/Pitt game should see some rain, so you might want to double check the radar to make sure it’s not a huge storm.

Virginia Tech at Pittsburgh (-1.5) 45u
Utah (-2.5) at Oregon State 51u
Fresno State at Boise State (-17) 62.5u
Temple at Houston (-7.5) 50u

Quarterbacks

Boise St. – GRANT HEDRICK
He’s going to miss one of his best targets in Matt Miller, but with the limited games, he’s one of the better options.

Fresno St. – BRIAN BURRELL
He’s inconsistent, but faces a Boise St team that isn’t all that great at stopping the pass and Fresno should be in throw mode most of the game.

Oregon St – SEAN MANNION
I think he’s the QB with the most value and is a decent option in 2 QB leagues as your cheaper #2. Has #1 upside, but just hasn’t gotten the job done, although he’s played some decent teams already this season. Utah gives up 263.4 yards per game and has allowed 11 TD’s through 5 games this season.

Running Backs

Boise St – JAY AJAYI
Is coming off a big week and faces a Fresno St. team which is one of the worst in the country at stopping the run. Only real issue is that teams key-in on him, so you hope he can break a big run or two.

Utah – DEVONTAE BOOKER
Has been the teams workhorse the last two games with 24+ carries and 150+ yards in each of them. OSU isn’t the best run-D and they’ve given up 11 rushing TD’s this season.

Pittsburgh – JAMES CONNER
Is facing a decent VTech run defense, but with the limited schedule, he’s a solid option … although I think his upside is limited.

Fresno St – MARTEZE WALLER
Boise St is a decent run defense so I’m not in love with him, but he’s a decent #2 option with the limited games.

Temple – JAHAD THOMAS
Busted a 68 yard run last week and ended up with 152 yards on 14 carries. I don’t think he does it again, but Houston is a decent matchup and he’s a cheap #2.

Houston – KENNETH FARROW
Not a huge upside guy, but if you want to save money on an RB2 – he should get some looks.

Wide Receiver

Fresno St – JOSH HARPER
Finally broke through last week with 12 reception for 187 yards and 1 TD. Only real issue with the limited games is he’s fairly priced.

Boise St – SHANE WILLIAMS-RHODES
With Matt Miller out, Rhodes is now the guy. I like him more in 1pt PPR leagues because he’s not a huge yardage muncher, but he’s solid.

Temple – JALEN FITZPATRICK
Would be a LOCK …. but faces a more than decent Houston pass defense. Has scored a TD in every game this season. Not a huge PPR guy, but is a big-play guy.

Pittsburgh – TYLER BOYD
VTech is a better run-D than pass-D so you hope the team throws a bit more. Boyd is having a down year, but should get you some touches this week. Only other issue is that it’s expected to be raining in this game as well.

Houston – DEONTAY GREENBERRY
Has a new QB throwing the ball, but hasn’t slowed him down too much. He’s clearly the #1 guy now with Spencer hurt. I like his value on DraftKings at only $4,900

Oregon St – VICTOR BOLDEN
He’s inconsistent, but is good enough to be a cheap #2/3 WR in any lineup this week.

Utah – DRES ANDERSON
I’d only risk him in 1pt PPR leagues … but he does have at least 1 TD catch in the last 3 games.

Boise St – THOMAS SPERBECK
A gamblers play here, but appears he’s stepped into Matt Miller’s role a bit. Purely a cheap #3 WR though.

Tight End

VTech – Bucky Hodges
Looks like he gets targets every game and even gets a few rushing attempts.

Oregon St – Connor Hamlett
Decent year for a TE so far, had 6 receptions last game.

Boise St – JAKE ROH
Has 3 receptions in each of the last 4 games.
