Daily College Fantasy Football QB Picks – Week 7

QB – Johnny Maziel – Texas A&M (vs Ole Miss 8:30 PM – LATE)
Johnny Football should be the most expensive QB on most daily fantasy sites this week. He faces off against Ole Miss this week, who is 3-2 & lost to Auburn last week 30-22. Vegas thinks Ole Miss will keep up with Johnny, as A&M is only a 6 point favorite on the road. The O/U in this game is a really healthy 73 – so you’re going to want to look at some of the other players in this game even if you don’t want to spend the money on Johnny.

QB- Brett Hundley – UCLA (vs Cal 10:30 PM – LATE)
Brett faces off against a team that ranks almost dead last in defense. Teams pretty much throw & run at will against Cal. Teams have averaged 45 points per game against them. UCLA is a pretty massive favorite (25 points) at home, and this one could get more ugly than that. Hudley is a solid run/pass QB who has performed fairly well, including a win in Nebraska where he had 3 TDs. Baring an injury, Hudley should get you very solid numbers – even if he comes out of this game early. Given that this is a conference game, some coaches leave the starters in just a bit longer to have ammunition for recruiting players thinking about going to Cal. On this site, Hundley is the 7th ranked QB, which is lower than some DFS.

QB – Taylor Kelly – Arizona State (vs Colorado 10:00 PM LATE)
Last week Colorado got ripped up by Oregon (who hasn’t) 57 – 16. That was in Colorado. This week Taylor Kelly gets to tee-off against them at home. Kelly has been an excellent fantasy play over the last 3 weeks – where he has 3 TDs & 350+ yards in each of those games. Those games were against Stanford, USC and Notre Dame … so Colorado this week should feel like a pop-warner game. Vegas has AZ State winning by 25 – and baring injury, the weather should be perfect and this is about as good as it gets for a QB not in the top 3. On this site Kelly is the 9th rated QB and costs $17,472 … several thousand less than other guys with harder matchups.

QB – Marcus Mariota – Oregon (vs Washington 4:00 PM – LATE)
Oregon’s first true test, facing off against a real defense/team. Washington has only given up 14 points per game, but most of that comes against fairly weak competition. Vegas has respect for Washington at home, but they have Oregon winning by 14. Your upside here is that Mariota will probably play 4 quarters. Your downside is the crazy (in a good way) Washington fans show up and make it tough for Oregon to do their thing. Plus, check the weather – a storm is supposed to hit the west coast this week.

QB – Tajh Boyd – Clemson (vs Boston College 3:30 ET – EARLY)
Teams with solid offenses have done well against Boston College, #8 Florida State had 48 points & USC scored 35 on them. Much like UCLA QB Brett Hundley, Tajh Boyd’s team is a large favorite (24.5 points) and the O/U is 63 at home this week. BC is not a roll-over type team like Cal is, but Boyd should have no problem putting up solid fantasy numbers again this week.

QB – Bryce Petty – Baylor (at Kansas State 3:30 PM – EARLY)
Petty has been about as solid as it gets (against pretty weak teams) over the first several weeks of the season. In the last 3 games he has a rushing TD to go along with incredible passing numbers. Kansas State might put up a fight in this game, since they have performed well against tough teams this year on the road … and this game is at home. Vegas likes Baylor by 17, which is actually pretty close for an un-ranked team going against 15th ranked Baylor. The O/U is set at 79 … making this one of the highest totals of the week.

QB – Sean Mannion – Oregon State (vs Washington State 10:30 PM – LATE)
Not the worst matchup for Mannion this week, but Washington State has held their own against almost every team, except #5 Stanford. Last week they went against Cal, and only allowed 22 points – but the Cal QB still had good numbers including some long pass plays that were clear break-downs in the Washington State defense. Vegas has this one as essentially a pick-em game, so it could lead to plenty of opportunities for Mannion. Last week he had 6 TDs – and has games with 5 & 4 TDs this year, his stock has quickly risen on all daily fantasy sites.

QB – Aaron Murray – Georgia (vs #25 Missouri 12:00 PM – EARLY)
The Missouri defense has given up some of the most passing yards to QB’s this season … but they have faced some quality offenses and are 5-0 on the season. Vegas has Georgia winning by 9. The running back situation is a little dicey if Todd Gurley doesn’t play again this week, and that could have Georgia relying on Murray more. Last week was an ‘off’ week and he had 3 TDs with no INT’s … but only 196 yards. There’s upside since Murray isn’t the most epensive option this week but Missouri should hang in this game, and are a solid team. 65 O/U in this game and Georgia is only a an 8 point favorite.

QB – Keenan Reynolds – Navy (vs Duke 12:30 PM – EARLY)
Check to make sure he’s in, but he played last week and goes against another team he can perfom well against. He is a true running QB who has a few games where he has 3 rushing TDs. Duke is a mid-to-lower tier NCAA defense, but they are at home. Vegas has this one as a tight contest (Duke -3) and the O/U is 58.5.

QB – James Franklin – Missouri (at Georgia 12:00 pm – EARLY)
A big pass/run QB who has some excellent numbers on the year against some rather cupcake teams. This week is a good test, but Georgia hasn’t been a dominant team on defense … they have played some tough teams though. This is a green light game in Vegas terms because it should be close (Georgia -9.5) and the O/U is 65. Not the ‘for sure’ play he was the last few weeks against bull-crap teams, but he shouldn’t have a problem getting things going against Georgia.

QB – Taysom Hill – BUY (vs Georgia Tech 7:00 PM – LATE)
More of a running QB than a throwing QB. He plays at home this week against a marginal tough opponent. Last week Hill had his best passing game where he had 275+ yards and 3 TDs. He has had an INT in the last 3 games, and a fumble in the last 2 games. Another red flag is that Vegas only has an O/U of only 51.5 in this game, which is low. I think there are other options you can go with less risk this week unless Hill happens to be cheap on your site – or you want running QB.

QB – Nick Marshall – Auburn (vs Western Carolina 2:00 pm – EARLY)
Has had some decent numbers but only has 4 TDs and 2 rushing TDs this year. That’s the bad news. Good news is that his team is a MASSIVE 43.5 favorite this week – and I couldn’t find a bookie willing to put an O/U on this one. If the DFS you play on has this guy priced cheap, he’s not a horrible option this week based on the matchup. Your downside is that it gets really ugly early and they take him out.

QB – Keith Price – Washington (vs Oregon 4:00 pm – LATE)
Gotta love the Vegas O/U in this game = 74.5 and Oregon is supposed to win by “only” 14. Price had really good numbers 350 yards and 2 TDs last week against a solid Stanford team. It’s hard to judge how good the Oregon defense actually is since they’ve played pretty weak teams, but Washington has the weapons to keep up in this game.

QB – Brandon Connette – Duke (vs Navy 12:30 pm – EARLY)
Be sure to make sure Anthony Boone hasn’t come back from an injury if you risk starting Brandon this week. He’s a solid Run/Throw guy that has 5 or more TDs in the last 2 week … plus 320+ passing yards in each game. Navy is no cupcake … it is the Navy after-all, but Connette proves to be a cheaper option ($5,750 on this site), that might be a solid combo with a top-end guy in 2 QB leagues.

QB – Bo Wallace – Ole Miss (vs Texas A&M 8:30 pm – LATE)
Gotta love this matchup, with the Vegas O/U set at 75.5 … if you don’t want to pay big buck for Johnny Football, you can get the guy on the other side of the ball for cheaper. The question Bo doesn’t know is if he can keep up with A&M enough for him to be effective this week. He only has 1 game where he has more than 2 TDs .. so his upside might be limited.

This list doesn’t include Teddy Bridgewater, which is the Thursday game – but he’s not a horrible option if you play in leagues that have that game.

Guys Who Are Hurt DO NOT PLAY THEM

Taylor Martinez – QB Nebraska
Tommy Armstrong will start for the second week in a row against Purdue.

David Ash – QB Texas
Case McCoy will start again this week.

C.J. Brown – QB Maryland
Check the wire for his status on Thursday/Friday, but he had a concussion last week. Caleb Rowe would start against Virginia if he doesn’t go.
