This is for the Fanduel Early Only Slate of Games. I will post the Draftkings ALL DAY slate of picks later in a separate post because the games are much different.
Temple @ Houston (-5.5) 54.5 o/u
Southern Miss @ WKU (-7.5) 74.5 o/u
Texas @ Baylor (-20.5) 68 o/u
Georgia State @ Georgia Southern (-21) 58.5 o/u
Texas State @ Arkansas State (-25.5) 70 o/u
New Mexico State (-2) @ Louisiana-Monroe 59 o/u
Florida @ Alabama (-17.5) 40 o/u
West Virginia (-5.5) @ Kansas State 56.5 o/u
Troy @ Louisiana Lafayette (-2) 58.5 o/u
Fredi Knighten – Arkansas State
I love this matchup and he’s been fairly hot the last 2 games. Only issue is they are a 3+ score favorite.
Nick Mullens – Southern Miss
I don’t read what other analysts normally write about college football DFS – not that I don’t think it’s worth reading, I just want to form my own opinion here so you guys don’t just read the same stuff everywhere. Anyway, if people aren’t talking about Mullens – that should be great news for you. I remember playing him in CFB DFS in years past – I’m guessing Southern Miss just wasn’t on a ton of slates this season. His worst games this season are againt two very solid defenses. I think he’s viable in cash & tournaments on both sites …. which is rare. Just don’t go too wild, this is college football – not the NFL.
Brandon Doughty – WKU
I think the Vegas line confirms what I think about the Sourthern Miss defense …. that it’s probably overrated on paper. They really didn’t play too many difficult teams – especially recently. They certainly never faced an elite passer like Doughty. I think you can project Doughty anywhere in that 19 – 33 fantasy point range with upside in the low 40’s if he really gets it rolling.
Skyler Howard – West Virginia
Fairly steady performer all season, usually in that 20ish fantasy points every game. This is an excellent matchup against Kansas State who’s given up 283 yards per game, 23 TDs and only have 4 INTs.
Greg Ward Jr – Houston
Okay, so the closest comparison to Ward (dual threat QB) that Temple has faced recently was Matt Davis of SMU about a month ago. Davis had 167 passing yards + 1 TD and 102 rushing yards on 17 carries + 1 TD in a game that was 60 – 40. Vegas see’s this being a little tighter – and the lines actually come down, but I wouldn’t be too concerned since Ward should account for the majority of Houston’s offense.
Joe Hubener – Kansas State
Home underdog might be overlooked a bit at this price. If you’re a high volume tournament player I think you can get a few shares of Hubener since he has 4+ TD upside.
Tyler Jones – Texas State
Should be asked to throw the ball 40+ times which I like at this price point. This is a good matchup, you just hope the game doesn’t get ugly.
Earnest Carrington – Louisiana Monroe
This is a great matchup and Carrington is likely a gamblers tournament QB this week.
Honestly there are so many WR’s it’s unreal. What I would do is target WRs with the QB you select. The other strategy is simply target the high o/u games and the poor pass defenses – there are plenty of them. In tournaments I’d fade some of the guys that were selections on Friday/Saturday slate since the natural tendency will be to go with what you’ve already researched.
Michael (Mike) Thomas – Southern Miss
Strongest Pair with Mullens
Nicholas Norris – WKU
I consider him an elite tournament option and a very selective cash game option at these levels.
Demarcus Ayers – Houston
Always viable, especially stacking with Ward since he’s the main target.
Tres Houston – Arkansas State
Has met value the last 2 week on his current salary but not much before that. However this might be his best matchup of the season.
Taywan Taylor – WKU
Alway reliable, just needs to get TDs though.
Casey Martin – Southern Miss
2nd Strongest Pair with Mullens
Antwane Grant – WKU
Shelton Gibson – West Virginia
Re-appeared after several weeks of not doing much. I’m not sure if he was hurt, got cooled by the coach, partied too much … I have no idea. That makes him a risky play but a solid GPP option at these prices since he’s an elite option if he happens to get on the field.
Penny Hart – Georgia State
Not cheap, but could be in line for plenty of targets since his teams should be behind.
Teddy Ruben – Troy
Not really familiar with him but has an above average matchup. Seems like he’d make a cheap WR GPP play.
Jared Dangerfield – WKU
Has cooled off again. I think you get some exposure to him though.
D.J. Thompsaon (GPPs Only) – Southern Miss
Possible GPP Pair with Mullens
TE – Tyler Higbee – WKU
$4,700 Fanduel (Listed At TE)
He’s still an elite TE play on Fanduel … I just wouldn’t go out of my way to roster him if the matchup don’t work elsewhere in your lineup.
Like WR – there’s LOTS of options at RB. I believe there’s only a few guys that rate to get 20 carries in matchups that I like, but there’s several boom/bust type options after that. Should be a wild weekend!
Matt Breida – Georgia Southern
I like this matchup against Georgia State who’s given up 4.6 yards per carry and 184 yards per game. It might seem like an ocean compared to facing Georgia last week.
Larry Rose – New Mexico
This is a good matchup against a team who’s given up 4.5 yards per carry this season and 217 yards per game. Rose is a 20+ carry type guy and this game sets up to get him that many touches.
Chris Warren – Texas
On Fanduel you need to stop & think. He’s not going to get you 57 fantasy points, but I have a good feeling he’ll be starting. Now you just need Texas to stop Baylor’s run game and maybe he can get 27 touches again.
Anthony Wales – WKU
Not sure he has 2+ TD upside in this game, but you never really know. Certainly a tournament RB since he does have 40+ point upside at times. If you think WKU gets a big lead – his value increases.
Jalen Richard – Southern Miss
Ito Smith – Southern Miss
Who knows what to expect here, but with all the other uncertainly at RB in this slate – I don’t think your risk is as large as it normally might be.
Michael Gordon – Arkansas State
There’s some other guys in this backfield so I wouldn’t go all in. However this is an amazing matchup against Texas State who’s given up 5.6 yards per carry and 250 yards per game. They can’t stop the pass either.
Brandon Burks – Troy
I think he’s viable because he sometimes gets you 20 touches, which at this price would be ideal.
Elijah McGuire – LLA
Don’t really love his price compared to how many touches he normally gets, but he is capable of getting you 20+ fantasy points making him a marginal GPP play.
