Daily College Fantasy Football RB Picks – Week 6 (Thursday/Friday)

I haven’t focused entirely on actually creating a lineup yet for the Thur/Fri slate – as I usually have plenty of time on Thursday for that. However, I think the strategy I’m going to shoot for is pay up for QB/RB and go cheap at WR. I think you’re going to be able to pull that off fairly easily on FanDuel this week (and likely have plenty for a WR) because Dayes and Johnson are both reasonably priced – and both are excellent plays (if Johnson is healthy). On Draftkings, I think Pairing Farrow/Dayes with Smith/Washington will be the play most grinders use.

Not a long list of Running Backs, but it’s a short list of games + I think you can be selective here.

SMU @ Houston (-25.5) 73.5 o/u
Washington @ USC (-17) 56 o/u
Southern Miss @ Marshall (-5.5) 59 o/u
North Carolina State @ Virginia Tech (PK) 52 o/u

Kenneth Farrow – Houston
$7,500 Draftkings
$7,300 Fanduel
This is the best matchup of the Thur/Fri college football slate and he’s coming off a game where he had 159 rushing yards and 2 TDs. On the season, SMU has given up 6.6 yards per carry!!!
Matthew Dayes – NC State
$7,300 Draftkings
$5,600 Fanduel (value)
I was all over Dayes last weekend when he was $5,300 on DK – and he was productive, but somewhat dissapointing with 17 fantasy points on DK. This week I think he’s a great play on FanDuel where he’s only $5,600. The matchup wasn’t good last week, but since his salary was so low, even at 17 fantasy points you’re likely getting value at that price. This week is different. Dayes’ price has risen quite a bit on DK, but the matchup is better. VT has given up 5.1 yards per carry and 9 TDs this season.
Devon Johnson – Marshall
$8,800 Draftkings
$5,200 Fanduel (value)
I think if you can get word he’s “100%” – I’d rank him #1 on Fanduel, but it’s possible coaches ease him back into the lineup. Even on limited touches he’s capable of a big game, especially against this type of defense. If Johnson is ruled out, Tony Pittman ($6,800 DK/$6,800 FD) is basically an across the board type starter that everyone will be on. Johnson does play, but coaches indicate he’d be limited or something like that, I think Pittman can still be playable. 9/8 Update: Mums the word on Johnson so far, which is typical in college DFS. On DK you could late swap him for Pittman, but it’d likely mean you’d want to shift other things around since Johnson is $2,000 more than Pittman. My guess is you’re likely not going to hear much and will have to roll the dice. 9/8 Re-Update: Marshall’s Twitter account indicates Johnson had a “great week of practice” and “we’re looking for them to be back out there” …. You can draw your own conclusions I think this is 100% he’s playing.
Dwayne Washington – Washington
$4,600 Draftkings
$6,000 Fanduel
I have to imagine Washington will want to run the ball against USC. The good news is if USC is stopping the run, Dwayne is capable of getting touches in the passing game. I think you combine that with Washington’s salary this week which is below average – and he makes for an attractive play.
Ito Smith – Southern Miss
$4,800 Draftkings
$5,300 Fanduel
I won’t pretend to know anything about Smith, since I don’t think I’ve had any action on games they’ve been in this season. However, from a box score perspective, Smith appears to be an interesting option, especially in full point PPR formats. Pairing Smith with one of the elite RB’s will likely be a strategy that has to be done based on the limited games. Teammate Jalen Richard is probably a sneaky tournament play since most people will be on Smith if they go this low at RB. On FanDuel, both will likely be low-owned because of the 1/2pt PPR + you can get Dayes or Devon Johnson for about the same price.
