Interesting night, there’s some superstars – Harden, Curry, Melo, Westbrook/Durant and others. On Yahoo – the star players are priced to perfection for the most part, so you’ll need to find the one that really outperforms in order to get much value. On FanDuel/DK I think rostering a star player is more do-able, which should make those lineups look better.
Here is the target score I’m shooting for. This isn’t perfect science, as I hit my target score on Yahoo cash games last night and went 6-12 in mostly 50/50 contests, albeit most I was on or near the bubble in the ones I missed. I’m going to monitor Yahoo for the next couple of days and I’m going to try to reach 250ish with my roster projections moving forward. The other projections have been fairly accurate cash lines in tournaments, at least through 1 week.
Yahoo Target Score: 249
Fanduel Target Score: 290
Draftkings Target Score: 264
I’m Building cash game lineups around this core of players:
Fanduel: Markieff, Harden, Okafor, Giannis
Draftkings: Gobert, Curry
Yahoo: Monroe, Okafor, IT2 aka The Pizza Guy
Here are the sleeper/value picks. In other words, I think these players have a good chance at delivering point-per-dollar value that is on-par or exceeds that of more expensive players. This comes in handy in both cash game & tournament selections.
G – Darren Collison
G – Kent Bazemore
G – Jerryd Bayless
G – Dennis Schroder
G – Marcus Thornton
G – Nik Stauskas
If he plays/starts.
F – Myles Turner
He’s on a mins limit I think – so only Yahoo
F – Jordan Hill
C – Kosta Koufos
C – Festus Ezeli
Mixed bag for me last night. In cash games I was burned by Anthony Davis again. I knew better, but I thought maybe he’d perform at a high level against Orlando. It’s clear he has no chemistry with his teammates outside of Holliday – who’s on a mins limit. Often times you can see Davis shaking his head/hands at players on offense like they aren’t on the same page. I’ve seen this in in 3 different games now, it’s not getting better. His offense is going to come on put-backs & transition … which means he’ll rarely hit value in the $10k price range. Personally I’m off AD until I see improvement in team chemistry and/or his price drops.
Cash Games: 8 – 28 (OUCH) Yahoo I hit my target score reaching 245.1 and was 6-12. Time to maybe re-think that target, and/or work on my game selection.
Tournaments: 5 – 0 (Yes) Below is my tournament lineup on Fanduel, which took home 5 cashes, 2 of my only cash game scores, and took a losing night into a small winner. I was hoping for much more from this lineup as Rondo, Oladipo and Gay under-performed what I thought they might do. That was offset by Drummond (who was a must play) and Fournier who I thought was a good cheap play. Mudiay, Randle and Millsap all hit value too.
Thanks for the comments, and reading. I will try to post a re-cap every night when I have time. Remember that daily fantasy is truly a grind – and hopefully my honest recap will give you an idea how that grind goes. Very rarely, even the top grinders have blowout winner nights … really you just want to grind away so a few times per month – you put yourself in the position to hit a big score in a tournament, or you sweep your cash games 90%-95% win rate and double your money.
