Hope you all had a great XMas holiday! I’m really looking forward today, as right after I publish this I need to get to work building CFB lineups (got off to a late start today) AND THEN WE HAVE NBA FIRING OFF ALL DAY AGAIN TOO!!! Let’s get right into the business at hand with target scores, some cash game targets, and some value. Plus a recap of my Christmas Day action all for Saturday December 26th.
Here are the target scores we are shooting for – about standard.
Draftkings: Pau Gasol, Griffin, Whiteside
Fanduel: Giannis, Thad Young
Yahoo: Giannis, DeAndre Jordan
Honestly not a ton of value I’m ready to get certified on. Might actually be a decent day for GPPs since the value is likely going to have to be manufactured instead of given to you. I’ve included some guys I’d consider sleepers … and guys I’d categorize as ‘value’ – typically I play sleepers only in GPPs, unless it’s a turbo slate – then you often need to take value wherever you can find it.
G – JJ Barea
G – Gary Harris
G – Ish Smith ???
G – Danny Green
G – Ramon Sessions
F – Taj Gibson
F – PJ Tucker
F – Kyle Anderson
F – Bobby Portis
C – John Henson
12/25 Recap: Yesterday was eventful!!! Had some chuckles with family since my lineups didn’t start hitting for cashes until the 2nd half of the Spurs game …. they thought I was going to lose a bunch of money in their eyes playing DFS. Pulled out a nearly break-even night. My brother (who I was cross-bankrolling with) fared worse. He completely whiffed 100% loser on Draftkings last night. Not sure how that happens unless you just suck at NBA DFS. I haven’t got a bill for the damage, but I probably lost $250+ booking his action on DK last night. Plus I faded DK entirely yesterday because I thought he had it covered. Ouch.
30 – 5 Cash games (Fanduel)
4 – 15 Tournaments (includes 1-4 record in the $25 Santa Slam Fanduel)
Personal ROI: -$22
So I pretty much crushed the cash games yesterday and did about what you’re expected to do in GPPs. Only min-cashing in the big tournaments on Fanduel really hurt my chances to push out a profit … but honestly I’m happy with the results overall. If I had more time I would have pushed out more lineups in cash games – but with family & doing all the entering on an iPad I think I did pretty good.
There were no real surprises yesterday – I personally just didn’t have the combinations required to really shoot you up a GPP leaderboard. Cash games were different – and on shorter slate nights, I’ll likely take advantage of them even more. Seems like there’s always about 50% of grinders (at the low stakes) who are willing to roster lineups that fade the slates best players. Last night I had a simply strategy in the 2/3 game cash games slates. Click on the best players and fill around them with guys that get the most minuets I can afford. Not saying that’s a viable strategy all season, or everyday, but for now the partial/turbo slates are where my stats are telling me to play more of. Looking forward to that tonight and I’ll share my results again with you tomorrow.
