Only 6 games on the slate where we have LeBron, Anthony Davis, Harden, Wall, Drummond as the top-end guys to pick from. Similar to last night in GPPs you’re probably only looking to target more than one of these guys in about 10% of your lineups. I think a balanced attack should work since (as of right now) there’s not a ton of clear cut value. I think the grinders that can adjust late should have an advantage in GPPs tonight since there’s likely to be a small start/sit situation that arises.
Target scores for tonight are fairly standard:
Cash Game Targets
Draftkings: Wall, Horford
Fanduel: Horford or Capela, Teague
Yahoooooo: Horford, Thad Young, Capela
Here are tonight’s value plays. Honestly it’s a really thin night right now for value on the major sites. That should crack open a bit later on today since it is Friday – and these guy’s are like everyone else in America who don’t want to work on Friday’s.
G – Patrick Beverley
F – Thabo Sefolosha
F – Stanley Johnson (GPPs Only)
F – Mirza Teletovic (GPPs)
C – Clint Capela
12/3 Recap: Another night where I focused on tournaments because it was a short slate of games. I prefer cash games on large slates where you’d need to create dozens, if not 100’s of lineups to really have an edge in the GPPs …. however on the short > 10 game slates – GPPs I think are viable because there’s simply less optimal lineups you need/can create.
2 – 8 Tournaments Fanduel ($0 ROI)
2 – 0 Tournaments Draftkings ($9 ROI)
Broke dead even on Fanduel – and cruised controlled to the money on Draftkings with some lineups that are having me scratch my head wondering what I was thinking this morning!
Here’s my best FanDuel lineup.
I felt IT2 aka the Pizza Guy was in an unreal spot going back to Sacramento. I’m not 100% if the coach was just being nice – but I’m pretty sure Thomas played the first 18 minuets of the game (or thereabouts). That’s worth monitoring because if the Pizza Guy gets these kinds of minuets he could be an $8,700 – $9,000 type guy in most spots. I got lucky that Stuckey benefited from Monta Ellis getting hurt – however this was a homecoming for Stuckey who apparently had many people in the stands. I don’t go out of my way to roster a guy like that … but at Stuckey’s price point when deciding between one player or another – going back to your home town is always going to give you an edge.
My only lineup where I had Sullinger but still cashed. I honestly think Sully is a solid GPP play, and I thought he’d have a shot at getting in foul trouble against Cousins too – that’s why I tried to avoid rostering Cousins & Sully both on the same team last night – since I thought one would go off – but likely not both. Durant was the only $10k+ player I rostered in more than 1 lineup on Fanduel other than Cousins.
DeRozan was a fun play since he burned me last night – I love that in the NBA the very next night I can play him again AND he’s likely got less owners. That’s why you need a short memory in the NBA. I hear guys on podcasts & in DFS circles all the time complain about Will Barton’s 1 bad game or when Anthony Davis gets carried to the locker room after only bumping his leg. Forget about it. This isn’t the NFL – carries aren’t made or lost in 1 game, 1 week or 1 month in the NBA. People were writing off John Wall 3 days ago – now he looks like the best player in the NBA. These guys are banging 15 different chicks, traveling across the US running up & down on a court …. they’ll have bad games.
I finished higher & made more money on Draftkings but I have no idea why and how. I only entered 2 lineups on DK that both cashed because I only had about 20 minuets. You can tell I only spent about 20 minuets on this lineup but it still got the job done I don’t recommend playing 3 backup point guards in one lineup. Rondo got ejected, Monta Ellis got hurt, and Corey Joseph is actually a really good player who I’ve targeted in GPPs because he plays down the stretch in basketball games on a team with somewhat limited scoring options off the bench. Notice both my winning lineups had Durant as the only ‘star’ player … which was my strategy in general last night since it clearly wasn’t a good stars-scrub night since most of them didn’t exceed their lofty price tags.
