Only 6 games on the schedule, but still a great night to play NBA daily fantasy. Anytime Anthony Davis plays, he has the potential to boom-or-bust lineups so that should be fun to follow. I’ll likely mix in a few more cash games tonight on Yahoo as I was tied up making tournament lineups yesterday on the big sites. These are my NBA DFS sleeper/value picks, target scores, cash game plays and recap of last night for Tuesday December 1, 2015.
Check me out on Twitter – Tweet me any Q’s you might have or your results/lineups.
Target Scores – project your lineup to reach this score with somewhat ease and I think you’ve built yourself a good lineup. Remember, these target scores are built based on projections. If Anthony Davis gets hurt again, LeBron takes a night off or 3 games go to Overtime … these will change based on how the actual games go.
Here are the guys I’m targeting in cash games. Honestly LeBron is a decent choice if you’re looking for a high-end player to start tonight in cash, otherwise I think you want to build a balanced lineup.
Draftkings: LeBron, Clarkson, Brook Lopez
Fanduel: Thad Young, Bledsoe, Beal, Gortat
One thing to note – Shooting Guard is a little light tonight, outside of maybe Clarkson on Draftkings. If Lillard is ruled out – that might break things open a bit, but you might want to strategies your entire lineup around what you do at SG. Also – not much value plays at all. I think in cash games, you’re going to want to limit your exposure to any of these guys … except on Yahoo where a $10-$15 player can be your best way to achieve value. Personally – I think it’s a GPP night on DK/FD and a cash heavy night on Yahoo where you fade AD and hope he doesn’t go off.
G – Raymond Felton
G – Isaiah Canaan
G – Hollis Thompson
F – Andrew Nicholson
F – Jon Leuer (GPPs Only)
C – Alex Len
11/30 Recap: Now that we are a little over a month into the NBA season I’m slowing upping my daily volume when I have the time to fill out lineups. Yesterday being kind of a medium sized slate of games – I was going to enter a considerable amount of tournament lineups since I thought I could come close to creating an optimal lineup.
3 – 7 Draftkings Tournaments (- $5 ROI)
7 – 4 Fanduel Tournaments (+ $4.50 ROI)
So I lost 50 cents on the night. For the most part, my value picks didn’t hit (Bayless, Green, Mayo). Beverley reached value if you played him on the right site.
Part of NBA DFS is keeping yourself pumped up. We’ve got two $1m tournaments on Wednesday. I’ll likely fire of 5 – 10 lineups in the Fanduel GPP. Draftkings cost $300 to enter and I haven’t decided yet if I’ll enter that. If I can build a lineup I like I might end up taking a shot. Anyway, I’ve got to stay pumped up & motivated for Wednesday so yesterday wasn’t too bad. Anytime you can roughly break even – it could be a lot worse.
I entered 21 different lineups – and my best one was probably on Draftkings.
In a medium sized slate – I’m always looking for top-notch NBA players who are going to be low-owned for whatever reason. On Draftkings … the #1 way to get low-owned players is to play guys with the red number next to them indicating that it’s a tough matchup. I’ll likely do a blog at some point explaining how you should 100% ignore the matchup strength number on Draftkings … and in fact look to selectively start guys because they have a red number/tough matchup (especially in GPPs).
Last night LaMarcus Aldridge had (I think) the #1 toughest matchup for PF according to Draftkings – and that led to him 5.7% owned. However, I’ve followed Aldridge his entire career – he’s not a normal PF. He’s owned guys like Gasol and whoever else Chicago’s thrown at him his entire career because he can rise up & shoot over them – that was a layup play. Gordon Hayward was the other great matchup despite what DK said. You see, DK doesn’t factor in Harrison Barnes is injured. So who’s going to guard Gordon Hayward now for the Warriors? An aging veteran backup who’s lost the quickness to keep up with Hayward’s first step – which is one of the best in the NBA. Add on top of that – you knew Utah was going to play this like a (home) playoff game (as is every team facing the Warriors until they are beaten).
Capela was iced for some reason late in this game – I’d be cautious about playing him (or any Rocket not named Harden) going forward in cash games. Rose was my attempt at getting low-owned guys since I went with chalky type plays in Green, Durant and Capela. I was really surprised to see Beverley at 6.4% owned – he reached a nice value.
