Enjoy – Week 1 College Football Fantasy Picks
Top Five NCAA Quarterback Picks Week 1:
1. Braxton Miller – Ohio State vrs. Buffalo Bulls
Miller is going up against a Bulls team that allowed an average of 28 points per game last year. In their one matchup against a top 25 team they allowed 258 yards passing and three touchdowns. The Bulls also allowed over 200 yards of rushing yards and with the way Miller can scramble he should have a big week.
2. Rakeem Cato – Marshall vrs. Miami (OH) RedHawks
Cato and Marshall are going up against a RedHawks team allowed 34.9 points per game in 2012 and ranked 103rd overall in college football. Cato finished 2012 with 4,201 yards and 37 touchdowns.
3. Marcus Mariota – Oregon vrs. Nicholls State Colonels
Mariota and the Ducks were the second highest scoring team in the country last season averaging 49.6 yards per game. Mariota is also going against a Colonels team that allowed 38 points per game last season.
4. Aaron Murray – Georgia vrs. Clemson Tigers
Murray is entering 2013 as a Heisman candidate going up against a Clemson Tigers team that allowed 396 yards per game last season. The Tigers also ranked 48th in the NCAA allowing almost 25 points per game.
5. Teddy Bridgewater – Louisville vrs. Ohio Bobcats
Bridgewater completed 68 percent of his passes in 2012 and looks to establish himself as one of the best passing quarterbacks in college. The Bobcats allowed 388 yards per game last season and 26 passing touchdowns.
Top Five NCAA Running Back Picks Week 1:
1. Ka’Deem Carey – Arizona vrs. Northern Arizona Lumberjacks
Carey dominated in 2012 rushing for 1,929 yards and 23 touchdowns against teams that are better than the Lumberjacks. 10 games last season Carey broke the 100 yards mark and four games of three or more touchdowns.
2. Lache Seastrunk – Baylor vrs. Wofford Terriers
Seastrunk dominated down the stretch last season rushing for 831 yards over the teams final six games of the season. He finished with 1,012 yards on 131 carries and has a chance of 1,800 plus yards in 2013.
3. De’Anthony Thomas – Oregon vrs. Nicholls State Colonels
Thomas will be the starting running back entering 2013 with a very weak Nicholls State team in week one. The Colonels allowed 38 points per game in 2012 and Thomas should have a chance for a big afternoon.
4. Johnathan Gray – Texas vrs. New Mexico State Aggies
This matchup is great for all the running backs on the Texas team. The Aggies allowed 221 yards per game rushing to opposing teams in 2012.
5. T.J. Yeldon – Alabama vrs. Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeldon is going against one of the better rushing defenses in college but the Alabama offensive line should be too much for the Hokies in this matchup. Yeldon who split carries with Eddie Lacy will be the number one back entering the season.
Top 5 NCAA Wide Receiver Picks Week 1:
- Stefon Diggs – Maryland vrs. Florida International Golden Panthers
Diggs is a pure playmaker who can make big plays in the passing game and on returns. Despite having a true quarterback in 2012 Diggs caught 54 passes for 848 yards and six touchdowns. He also returned two kicks for scores as well.
2. Sammie Watkins – Clemson vrs. Georgia Bulldogs
After losing DeAndre Hopkins to the NFL this offseason the Tigers will need Watkins to make plays for them and what a better time then against the number five team in the nation.
3. Quintin Payton – North Carolina State vrs. Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
Payton is a sleeper pick here as the Bulldogs ranked dead last against the pass in 2012 allowing 340 yards passing per game. They also allowed 35 passing touchdowns in 12 games.
4. Mike Evans – Texas A&M vrs. Rice Owls
Evans should still have a big game despite not having Johnny Manziel in the first half of the game. Coming off a 2012 season in which he caught 82 passes for 1,105 yards and five touchdowns.
5. Quinton Dunbar – Florida vrs. Toledo Rockets
A matchup against the 116 ranked defense against the pass rises the stock of the Gators receivers. Dunbar who finished with 36 catches, 383 yards and four touchdowns is the leading receiving from last years team.
Top 2 NCAA Tight End Picks Week 1:
1. Colt Lyerla – Oregon vrs. Nicholls State Colonels
Lyerla production should increase from the 392 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns last season. Lyerla will benefit from having quarterback Mariota throwing him the ball against a bad Nicholls State team.
2. C.J. Fiedorowicz – Iowa Hawkeyes vrs. Northern Illinois Huskie
Fiedorowicz is one of the better options left at tight end this weekend with Eric Ebron playing on Thursday night. Last season Fiedorowicz caught 45 passes for 433 yards and one touchdown.
