Week 4 College Football Daily Fantasy QB Picks

Week 4 of the college football season poses some interesting choices at QB for daily fantasy leagues. Many of the games will be lopsided this week which you’ll have to navigate to make your picks. I could see a number of very good QB plays this week in daily leagues, and you might want to play in multiple games and use different lineups.  The salaries below come from fantasy site Draft Kings. Salaries and game structure will vary from fantasy site to fantasy site. Be sure to check the scoring before playing on any site for real money.

NOTE: Salaries are from Draft Kings Daily Fantasy Site.

Johnny Manziel – Texas A&M – $12,000Green Light!
SMU Mustangs at Texas A&M Aggies
VEGAS LINE: Texas A&M -28.5
Last Week: 28/39 464 Yards 5 TD 2 INT – 98 Rushing Yards
Coming off the tough loss to Alabama, I really don’t expect a letdown game from Johnny Football. He will maybe not throw for 450 yards in this game as A&M should have more success running the ball. Look for 3 TD’s though at least, maybe even 4 or 5.

Brett Hundley – UCLA – $10,000Green Light!
New Mexico State Aggies at UCLA Bruins
VEGAS LINE: UCLA -42
Last Week: 16/24 294 Yards 3 TD 1 INT – 61 Rushing Yards
Hundley started out slow in week 3 but turned it on late to lead UCLA to a big win over Nebraska. This week, they come home to what should be an easy game against New Mexico State. Hundley probably won’t have to play the whole game in this one, but could have a few TD’s to make the $10,000 price worth it on Draft Kings.

Braxton Miller – Ohio State – $9,250 Double Check Injury Status
Florida A&M Rattlers at Ohio State Buckeyes
VEGAS LINE: Ohio State -57
Last Week: Was hurt & did not play
Miller is listed as probable for the Florida A&M game. Miller missed the game against Cal because of a bum knee. He should be good to go in this one, but will more than likely not play the entire game.

Teddy Bridgewater – Louisville – $9,250 – Green Light!
FIU Golden Panthers at Louisville Cardinals
VEGAS LINE: Louisville -42
Last Week: 16/28 250 Yards 1 TD – 35 Rushing Yards
His numbers were down a little bit last week, but Teddy can easily put up 300-400 yards throwing with ease. This is an easy matchup this week against FIU and look for Teddy to get at least 3 passing TD’s.

Taylor Martinez – Nebraska – $9,000HURT & WILL LIKELY NOT PLAY
South Dakota State Jackrabbits at Nebraska Cornhuskers
VEGAS LINE: Nebraska -24.5
Last Week: 21/35 203 Yards 3 TD – MINUS 13 Rushing Yards
Struggled a little bit in the 2nd half against UCLA in a loss.  I guess South Dakota State is at least decent because Nebraska isn’t massive favorites against them but Nebraska has a horrible defense so maybe that’s the reason. Nebraska may run, run, run in this one, but I still think Martinez will put up good numbers and may be worth a start in daily leagues.

Bryce Petty – Baylor – $9,000
Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at Baylor Bears
VEGAS LINE: Baylor -27
Last Week: No Game – 2013 Game Log
Petty is a good QB, but once again may be limited because of the soft schedule. Baylor also has a great running back, Lache Seastrunk, who will get the ball quite a bit. When Baylor is playing a slightly better team then Petty might be a real good option.

Jameis Winston – Florida State – $8,250
Bethune-Cookman Wildcats at Florida State Seminoles
VEGAS LINE: Florida State -39
Last Week: 15/18 214 Yards 2 TD 1 INT – 8 Rushing Yards 1 TD
Had some struggles vs Nevada last week but could get back on track in what should be an easy game this week. Not a bad price at $8,250 on Draft Kings.

Devin Gardner – Michigan – $8,250 – Green Light!
Michigan Wolverines at Connecticut Huskies
VEGAS LINE: Michigan -17.5
Last Week: 16/30 248 Yards 2 TD 3 INT – 103 Yards Rushing 1 TD
Squeaked out a win vs. Akron last week and put up pretty good numbers despite the 3 INT’s. UCONN will give up some points to Gardner this week and he could be a nice option. Gardner is a running QB and also has some good receiving options to throw to.

Taysom Hill – BYU – $8,000 – Green Light!
Utah Utes at BYU Cougars
VEGAS LINE: BYU -7
Last Week: No Game – 2013 Game Log
Should be a very good play in daily fantasy leagues. He can run and throw it a little bit. Utah got lit up last week on defense and look for more of the same against BYU. Hopefully BYU gives up some points to a good Utah offense and this game becomes a shootout.

Aaron Murray – Georgia – $8,000 – Green Light!
North Texas Mean Green at Georgia Bulldogs
VEGAS LINE: Georgia -32
Last Week: No Game – 2013 Game Log
Has put up over 300 yards passing against two decent teams, Clemson and South Carolina. Finally gets an easy game this week and it will be a matter of how many points can he put up before possibly coming out of the game in the 4th quarter.  North Texas has a horrible defense, and Murray could get off for big points in fantasy leagues.

Vad Lee – Georgia Tech – $7,750
North Carolina Tar Heels at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
VEGAS LINE: Georgia Tech -6
Last Week: 8/16 125 Yards 4 TD 1 INT – 76 Rushing Yards 1 TD
Should be a good game in Georgia this week vs North Carolina. Vad can be a decent option this week in daily leagues at QB. He will play the whole game and is moderately priced. If he can get 3 TD’s and maybe 100 rushing yards he will provide good value.

Keith Price – Washington– $7,500 – Green Light!
Idaho State Bengals at Washington Huskies
VEGAS LINE: Washington -53
Last Week: 28/35 342 Yards 2 TD – MINUS 9 Rushing Yards
Price is a solid QB who has been playing well this season. Washington has a great RB, Bishop Sankey, and both him and Price could put up big numbers this week in what should be an easy win.

Kenny Guiton – Ohio State – Draft Kings: $7,500Probably a backup this week
Florida A&M Rattlers at Ohio State Buckeyes
VEGAS LINE: Ohio State -57
Week 2 Stats: 21/32 276 Yards 4 TD – 92 Rushing Yards
Guiton started last week in place of Braxton Miller. This should be an easy win for Ohio State this week, and while Guiton will probably play, he is not worth starting unless Miller is out.

James Franklin – Missouri – $7,250 – Green Light!
Missouri Tigers at Indiana Hoosiers
VEGAS LINE: Missouri -4
Last Week: No Game – 2013 Game Log
Could be one of the better plays in daily leagues this week. Indiana has a pretty poor defense and Franklin could get off for lot’s of passing and rushing yards.

Jeff Driskel – Florida – $7,000Check slight injury status
Tennessee Volunteers at Florida Gators
VEGAS LINE: Florida -17
Last Week: No Game – 2013 Game Log
Tennessee got torched last week vs. Oregon. While Florida doesn’t have as high powered an offense as Oregon, Driskel could be in for a big day. Could be a great start this week in daily leagues. He does have a slight knee injury that was from week 2, but he should be good to go vs the Vols.

Austyn Carta-Samuels – Vanderbilt – $7,000
Vanderbilt Commodores at Massachusetts Minutemen
VEGAS LINE: Vanderbilt -32
Last Week: 12/22 147 Yards 1 TD 1 INT – MINUS 5 Rushing Yards 1 TD
Had a pretty shaky game against South Carolina. Gets what should be an easy win this week and his numbers should get a little boost. Unless you think he is going to pop off there are probably some better options.

Sean Mannion – Oregon State – $6,750 – Green Light!
Oregon State Beavers at San Diego State Aztecs
VEGAS LINE: Oregon State -11.5
Last Week: 27/44 443 Yards 5 TD – MINUS 12 Rushing Yards
Lit up Utah last week and has a pair of WR’s to throw to and a good TE. One of the better plays in week 4 at QB. Could be a high scoring game and 400 yards with 4-5 TD’s is possible. One of the TD’s he got last week was in overtime, but nonetheless, he has some weapons to go to. In addition, Oregon State’s #1 RB, Storm Woods, got hurt and will not play in this game or the foreseeable future. Mannion has thrown over 40 passes in each of Oregon State’s first 3 games, look for more of the same and don’t be surprised if his price is higher on Draft Kings in the coming weeks.

Dak Prescott – Mississippi State – $6,750Check to see if he starts!
Troy Trojans at Mississippi State Bulldogs
VEGAS LINE: Mississippi State -15
Last Week: 15/28 213 Yards 0 TD – 133 Rushing Yards 2 TD
This is a dicey option this week that could pay off big. Prescott got the start last week when the Mississippi State Twitter account announced it even though, Tyler Russell was #1 on the depth chart. Russell is getting over a concussion he had from early on in the season. Prescott is a dynamic runner and thrower, and if he is the starter, he could put up huge numbers and be a great, cheaper option at QB.

Stephen Morris – Miami – $6,750
Savannah State Tigers at Miami Hurricanes
VEGAS LINE: Miami -55
Last Week: No Game – 2013 Game Log
This should be a very easy win for Miami this week. Morris only has modest numbers this year, but this could be the game he gets off and puts up a great game. Morris is on the radar of some NFL teams and this could be a great time to throw for 300-400 yards against an easy team. Miami has a good RB, Duke Johnson, who will also be a good play this week in daily leagues.

Ford Childress – West Virginia – $6,750
West Virginia Mountaineers at Maryland Terrapins
VEGAS LINE: Maryland -5
Last Week: 25/41 359 Yards 3 TD 1 INT – MINUS 15 Rushing Yards
Made his first career start last week as a redshirt freshman. Put up great numbers but was facing a weak team. Maryland has the #17 ranked total defense in the NCAA right now. Childress could be a real good option later on in the year, but I’d probably look elsewhere this week. A redshirt freshman making his 2nd career start on the road against a good Maryland team isn’t the best option in fantasy.

Logan Thomas – Virginia Tech – $6,750
Marshall Thundering Herd at Virginia Tech Hokies
VEGAS LINE: Virginia Tech – 9.5
Last Week: 25/43 258 Yards 2 TD 1 INT – 9 Rushing Yards
If you feel good about Thomas, start him. I like some other options around this price range but I guess Thomas wouldn’t be bad. Virginia Tech has a good defense and that might get Thomas on the field a little bit more in this one.

Garrett Gilbert – SMU – $6,500
SMU Mustangs at Texas A&M Aggies
VEGAS LINE: Texas A&M -28.5
Last Week: No Game – 2013 Game Log
He is going to have to throw the ball a ton vs. A&M who has been really bad on defense all season. This could be a nice low priced option at QB, as Gilbert will probably throw the ball 50 times in the game. He only has 2 total TD’s this season, but has thrown for over 300 yards in each of the first two weeks. Johnny Manziel will be putting up quick points against SMU, so look for Gilbert to have at least a decent game in what should be a shootout.

Kevin Hogan – Stanford – $6,500
Arizona State Sun Devils at Stanford Cardinal
VEGAS LINE: Stanford -8
Last Week: 11/18 188 Yards 3 TD 1 INT – 15 Rushing Yards
Arizona State has a pretty solid defense, and Hogan could be somewhat limited in regards to stats. This should be a good game to watch, but you might want to go with another QB over Hogan unless you think he’ll get 4 TD’s in this one.

David Ash – Texas – $6,500 – Check Injury Status!
Kansas State Wildcats at Texas Longhorns
VEGAS LINE: Texas -3.5
Last Week: Was hurt and did not play
May not play this week – do not play unless you know for sure he is starting.

Kain Colter – Northwestern – $6,500 – Green Light!
Maine Black Bears at Northwestern Wildcats
VEGAS LINE: Northwestern -33.5
Last Week: 6/7 40 Yards 1 TD 1 INT – 106 Rushing Yards 1 TD
This guy burned me in week 1 when he got hurt in the 1st Quarter vs. Cal. He would have put up HUGE numbers in that game vs. a weak Cal defense. This should be an easy win for Northwestern this week. Cain is a very good option because he can run and throw. He may not play the whole game, but it may not matter, look for 3 TD’s pretty easily from Colter this week.

Where To Play Daily College Football Fantasy?

Draft Kings – Great selection of college games. Probably the best options of tourny’s, 50/50 games, heads up. Really fun to play on this site and their salaries have been easy to get sleepers during the first 3 weeks.

Fan Throwdown – They skipped week 2 of the NCAA season to tighten up their salaries and get them right. In week 3, they had some tough salaries to put up a good lineup. It paid off for me as I won the $0.25 tournament they have on there and also cashed in 4/6 double up matches. You have to study their salaries a little bit more to get an edge in daily leagues. Fan Throwdown doesn’t have as many games as Fan Duel or Draft Kings but I like playing on FTD.

Fan Duel – I only got involved with one 50/50 game on Fan Duel in week 3, which I cashed. They have a nice selection of games, but they do limit the college games you can choose from. Keep that in mind. It does allow you to focus in on select matchups which can help the research process.  You also fill out a smaller lineup on Fan Duel, on FTD and Draft Kings you play multiple QB’s.

Draft Day – Like Fan Duel I only played in one game on this site in week 3. I really like their design and the way the stats update on this site. Once again, check the salaries and how they set up their games. Sometimes you can find great values by doing a little research into the games and the players.

Stat Clash – I first heard about Stat Clash on a popular Poker Podcast. If Todd trusts Stat Clash, then it’s a good site. I almost got involved with some college fantasy games in week 3 on stat clash but had to make a bunch of quick roster adjustments on other sites because of the Fresno State vs Colorado cancelled game. I liked how they had a $200 budget and only select games to choose from. If you can only focus on 12-15 games it can help your chances, so I’ll check it out in week 4.
