Good TE’s can be tough to find in daily fantasy college football. Many teams run a version of a spread offense and don’t really utilize a tight end that much. You don’t need your TE to do anything special to win at college fantasy. Having a big game from your TE though can move you up the pay scale in tournaments. Most of the guys on this page are a gamble, but there are several who should get you 2-4 receptions, which is good enough. Players like Amaro and Bolser can give you upside for big games, but they come with a big price tag in daily leagues which impacts the rest of your lineup. I’d rather start a scrub TE and hope for the best and have money left over to get a stud RB or WR.
Jace Amaro – Texas Tech – $5,000
Texas State Bobcats at Texas Tech Red Raiders
VEGAS LINE: Texas Tech -26.5
Last Week: 9 Rec 97 Yards
Armaro has been lining up in the slot for Texas Tech and is essentially a glorified WR. He has been consistent all season through 3 games, but only has 1 TD. You can probably count on Amaro to give you at least 4 receptions with upside to more in this game against Texas State.
Ted Bolser – Indiana – $4,750
Missouri Tigers at Indiana Hoosiers
VEGAS LINE: Missouri -3
Last Week: 1 Rec 12 Yards
Last week was his first bad one of the season. He caught 2 TD’s in each of Indiana’s first two games of the season. This should be a very high scoring game this week against Missouri. Look for Bolser to be more involved in the Indiana passing game this week.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins – Washington– $4,750
Idaho State Bengals at Washington Huskies
VEGAS LINE: Washington -53
Last Week: 3 Rec 8 Yards
Missed a lot of the off-season practices and has come into the season out of shape. He also got suspended in week 1. Last week was his first game and he was rusty and looked winded at times. Look for him to come on as the season rolls on. Some project him to be a 1st round NFL draft pick, so the talent is there.
Connor Hamlett – Oregon State – $4,000
Oregon State Beavers at San Diego State Aztecs
VEGAS LINE: Oregon State -11.5
Last Week: 3 Rec 18 Yards 1 TD 1 2PT
Oregon State has a dynamic passing game and Hamlett is involved quite a bit in short, over the middle type plays. He may not put up huge yards, but he will probably get you at least the 3 receptions he got last week. In week 1 he had 8 receptions and in week 2 he had 5 catches. He is a redzone threat because of his size. Kind of reminds me of a poor mans Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys.
Eric Ebron – North Carolina – $4,000
North Carolina Tar Heels at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
VEGAS LINE: Georgia Tech -6
Last Week: 4 Rec 60 Yards
Ebron is another guy who might some day be on your NFL fantasy football team. So far this season he has yet to score a TD, and this week maybe is his time to find the endzone.
Dan Vitale – Northwestern – $3,750
Maine Black Bears at Northwestern Wildcats
VEGAS LINE: Northwestern -33.5
Last Week: 1 Rec 4 Yards
Only had one reception last week, but has been involved in the offense the first three weeks. Will only typically catch short passes and hopefully he breaks one for a TD. Should be an easy game for Northwestern and Vitale might get back on track with a few more receptions.
Chris Coyle – Arizona State – $3,750
Arizona State Sun Devils at Stanford Cardinal
VEGAS LINE: Stanford -8
Last Week: 3 Rec 33 Yards
Has seen his college career jump started by ASU offensive coordinator Mike Norvell. Had a great week 1 where he had 48 yards and a TD. Stanford has a tough defense, but maybe that means more check downs and underneath stuff for Coyle. He’s probably going to get at least 2 or 3 catches so he won’t goose egg.
C.J. Fiedorowicz – Iowa – $3,500
Western Michigan Broncos at Iowa Hawkeyes
VEGAS LINE: Iowa -17
Last Week: 1 Rec 6 Yards
This is another guy who could play on Sunday in the NFL, but has yet to really get it going this year. Just 6 total catches this season through 3 games. Isn’t going to be a high volume catch or yardage guy, but is an option in the redzone for Iowa.
Malcolm Johnson – Mississippi State – $3,500
Troy Trojans at Mississippi State Bulldogs
VEGAS LINE: Mississippi State -14
Last Week: 1 Rec 5 Yards
The oft-injured tight end has only had 5 catches through 3 games this year. He is a former WR and has the athleticism to have a big game. Starting Johnson is a gamble, but most of the TE’s on this page are just that. If he finds the endzone you’ll look like a genius.
Clive Walford – Miami – $3,500
Savannah State Tigers at Miami Hurricanes
VEGAS LINE: Miami -55
Last Week: 2 Rec 24 Yards
Clive is not a high volume catch guy, but he is athletic and can break a TD. Easy matchup this week for Miami, so if you go with Walford just hope he gets involved early in this one as the starters probably won’t play the entire game.
O.J. Howard – Alabama – $3,250
Colorado State Rams at Alabama Crimson Tide
VEGAS LINE: Alabama -39.5
Last Week: 3 Rec 68 Yards
The freshman had a great game against Texas A&M last week. It was also the first three catches of his college career. He is a gamble starting in fantasy because he could easily goose egg for you. But Alabama could look to develop some younger players in this game against Colorado State, which could be good news for Howard as he might see some increased opportunities in this game.
Nick O’Leary – Florida State – $3,250
Bethune-Cookman Wildcats at Florida State Seminoles
VEGAS LINE: Florida State -39
Last Week: 2 Rec 16 Yards
Caught 3 TD passes in week 1, but came back down to earth last week. Was a popular TE play last week in daily leagues on Draft Kings.
Gerald Christian – Louisville – $3,000
FIU Golden Panthers at Louisville Cardinals
VEGAS LINE: Louisville -42
Last Week: 3 Rec 44 Yards
Has had a very good season so far with 10 receptions in the first 3 games. Has one of the nations best QB’s throwing him in the ball in Teddy Bridgewater. Good option to go with at $3,000.
Arthur Lynch – Georgia – $3,000
North Texas Mean Green at Georgia Bulldogs
VEGAS LINE: Georgia -32
Last Week: 3 Rec 26 Yards 1 TD
Says he played a career high 73 snaps last week vs South Carolina. In part it was due to help block star DE Jadeveon Clowney. The good thing about Lynch is that he is a good bet to get you 2-3 receptions. Lynch is also a large man, so a TD in the redzone is always a possibility.
Jake McGee – Virginia – $3,000
VMI Keydets at Virginia Cavaliers
VEGAS LINE: Virginia -40.5
Last Game: 8 Rec 53 Yards
McGee has been involved in short, over the middle pass plays for Virginia during it’s first two games. Caught 8 passes vs Oregon as Virginia was down big points in that game and had to throw a lot.
