Week 5 College Football Daily Fantasy Picks – WR

Need some good WR’s? Hopefully this gives you an idea who is who for daily fantasy college action. There are a few studs, and quite a few duds, so be sure to get the right ones. Salaries are from fantasy site Draft Kings. Salaries and game structure can vary from site to site.

Brandin Cooks – Oregon State – $9,750
Colorado Buffaloes at Oregon State Beavers
VEGAS LINE: Oregon State -10.5
Last Week: 14 Rec 141 Yards 0 TD – 12 Rushing Yards
Injury report says he is probable for the Colorado game with a thigh injury. He played the entire game last week so the injury appears very minor. This guy is an absolute stud. Tremendous ball catcher. Oregon State throws a lot and nobody has been able to stop Cooks so far.  Hefty price tag for Cooks, but each week he has been worth every penny.

Paul Richardson – Colorado – $8,500
Colorado Buffaloes at Oregon State Beavers
VEGAS LINE: Oregon State -10.5
Last Week: No Game.
Hasn’t played in two weeks because of the canceled game against Fresno State and a bye week last week. Has been equally studly as Cooks in the two games he’s played. Over 10 catches, over 200 yards, and 2 TD’s in EACH game. Wow. Look for him and Cooks to battle it out to see who the top dog at WR is. Should be a great game in Oregon.

Mike Evans – Texas A&M – $8,000
Texas A&M Aggies at Arkansas Razorbacks
VEGAS LINE: Texas A&M -3
Last Week: 2 Rec 57 Yards
It’s going to be hard to get good value for Evans after his breakout game against Alabama in week 3.  He is big, tall, and very difficult to cover. Johnny Manziel is good at spreading the ball around, but Evans is one of his favorite targets.

Sammy Watkins – Oregon State – $7,750
Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Clemson Tigers
VEGAS LINE: Clemson -28.5
Last Week: 10 Rec 96 Yards 0 TD – 3 Rushing Yards
Only has 1 receiving TD this season but is a favorite target of QB Tajh Boyd. Wake Forest has a pretty soft defense so hopefully Watkins can get busy early and often.

Marqise Lee – USC – $7,750
USC Trojans at Arizona State Sun Devils
VEGAS LINE: Arizona State -6
Last Week: 6 Rec 72 Yards 0 TD – 8 Rushing Yards
Lee got nicked up on a punt return last week, but coach says he’ll be good to go this weekend. Lee is guaranteed to get you some catches, but his QB is a little weak compared to the WR’s higher up on this list. If Lee played for Texas A&M he would be priced much higher.

Jordan Matthews – Vanderbilt – $7,750
UAB Blazers at Vanderbilt Commodores
VEGAS LINE: Vanderbilt -19.5
Last Week: 8 Rec 76 Yards 1 TD – 8 Rushing Yards
This guy is a consistent ball catcher and even appears on billboards near the school.  You know you are going to get a solid game from Matthews which maybe gives him the edge over someone like Lee, who is priced the same.  Anyone on a billboard will not goose egg the game.

Deontay Greenberry – Houston – $7,000
Houston Cougars at UTSA Roadrunners
VEGAS LINE: Houston -3
Last Week: 6 Rec 146 Yards 1 TD
I said he was a somewhat risky start last week because of his inexperience. Ooops. This guy might just be a stud. Making huge plays for an uptempo Houston offense. He might keep getting more expensive as the weeks roll on. Should be a high scoring game against UTSA.

Michael Campanaro – Wake Forest – $7,000
Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Clemson Tigers
VEGAS LINE: Clemson -28.5
Last Week: 4 Rec 91 Yards 1 TD
A “Wes Welker” type receiver who could get more looks this week as Wake Forest ran the ball a lot last week. If he scores a TD he should be good value. Look for him to get over 5 receptions in this game.

Jamison Crowder – Duke – $7,000
Troy Trojans at Duke Blue Devils
VEGAS LINE: Duke -10
Last Week: 7 Rec 141 Yards 1 TD – 29 Rushing Yards 1 TD
Huge game last week as Duke lit up the scoreboard in a loss against Pittsburgh. Duke has a really soft defense but Troy probably does too. Look for another big game from Crowder in what should be a high scoring affair.

Reggie Davis – Georgia – $7,000
LSU Tigers at Georgia Bulldogs
VEGAS LINE: Georgia -3
Last Week: 2 Rec 134 Yards 1 TD
Those were the first two catches in Davis’ college career. One of those catches was a 98 yard TD. Very risky option as he could be boom or bust. Georgia does throw it around a lot and Aaron Murray is a decent QB. There have been some injury issues with WR’s at Georgia so maybe Davis will once again see some balls thrown his way.

Devin Street – Pittsburgh – $6,750
Virginia Cavaliers at Pittsburgh Panthers
VEGAS LINE: Pittsburgh -6
Last Week: 6 Rec 166 Yards 2 TD – 1 Rushing Yard
Not sure what to make of the Virginia defense. They got torched by Oregon….. but then again….. who doesn’t? Street is a dynamic receiver that teams with Tyler Boyd for a great combo. I’m guessing both Street and Boyd get busy in this game.

Tyler Boyd – Pittsburgh – $6,500
Virginia Cavaliers at Pittsburgh Panthers
VEGAS LINE: Pittsburgh -6
Last Week: 8 Rec 154 Yards 3 TD
Caught 3 TD’s last week. See Devin Street. Hard to say how this game will go, but Boyd and Street are option A & B in the Pittsburgh passing game that exploded last week.

Josh Stewart – Oklahoma State – $6,000
Oklahoma State Cowboys at West Virginia Mountaineers
VEGAS LINE: Oklahoma State -18.5
Last Week: 3 Rec 49 Yards
Had a punt return TD in his last game that’s why his price is a little high. Only has 12 catches and 1 receiving TD through 3 games. Is a dynamic player but doesn’t seem to get enough touches to warrant a start.

Shakim Phillips – UCONN – $6,000
Connecticut Huskies at Buffalo Bulls
VEGAS LINE: Buffalo -1
Last Week: HURT. Didn’t play
Has a hamstring injury and is questionable to play in this game. Risky even if he does. Has good numbers in the two games he’s played in but hamstring injuries are not fun to play with.

Josh Huff – Oregon – $5,750
California Golden Bears at Oregon Ducks
VEGAS LINE: Oregon -36
Last Game: 6 Rec 125 Yards 1 TD
Oregon spreads the ball around a lot and Huff would get more touches on another team. Thing is, Oregon puts so many points on the board that Huff is still a good option. Cal has a horrible defense. Cross your fingers and hope that Huff gets one of the many Oregon TD’s on Saturday.

Kasen Williams – Washington – $5,750
Arizona Wildcats at Washington Huskies
VEGAS LINE: Washington -9.5
Last Game: 4 Rec 78 Yards
Washington has a great RB, and a couple other WR’s and a good TE. Williams is apart of the mix and this should be a high scoring game against Arizona. I’d feel better if he was priced a little less but he isn’t a bad option.

T.J. Jones – Notre Dame – $5,750
Oklahoma Sooners at Notre Dame Fighting Irish
VEGAS LINE: Oklahoma -3.5
Last Game: 2 Rec 15 Yards 1 TD
A gamble because the QB at Notre Dame is horrible. Did score a TD last week but has seen his number of catches and yardage decline the last four weeks.

Daniel Spencer – Houston – $5,750
Houston Cougars at UTSA Roadrunners
VEGAS LINE: Houston -3
Last Week: 5 Rec 76 Yards 1 TD – 1 Rushing Yard
Is another one of Houston’s options at WR. Could be a nice high scoring game against UTSA where Spencer gets some looks.

Amari Cooper – Alabama – $5,500
Ole Miss Rebels at Alabama Crimson Tide
VEGAS LINE: Alabama -15.5
Last Week: Did Not Play. Hurt
Check the status of Cooper before starting him. He has a toe/foot injury. Has had a lackluster year so far and maybe the injuries are the cause of that.

Chris Harper – Cal – $5,500
California Golden Bears at Oregon Ducks
VEGAS LINE: Oregon -36
Last Game: 6 Rec 115 Yards 1 TD
Very good WR and Cal is going to have to throw early and often in this game. QB Jared Goff does spread the ball around, and is actually better when he gets the ball out of his hand quick. If the Cal offensive line can give Goff a little bit of time, look for Harper to have a very active day. Cal is going to be behind in this game and are going to have to throw, throw, throw to try and keep it close. Cal runs one of the most uptempo offenses in the country….. along with Oregon.

Other Guys I Have Eyes On

Jaydon Mickens – Washington – $5,500
Hasn’t put up great numbers this year but I like him as a player. Could be a high scoring game.

Ty Montgomery – Stanford – $5,000
They don’t throw it around a lot at Stanford, but Montgomery has been getting looks and TD’s for the Cardinal this year.

Darius Joseph – SMU – $5,000
They throw it just about every play at SMU and Joseph is one of the best options on that team. Problem is, SMU has a hard time scoring TD’s. His teammate Jeremy Johnson is $4,750.

Bryce Treggs – Cal – $4,500
See Chris Harper. Cal is going to throw a ton in this game and Treggs is a very good, speedy, type player who is capable of making big plays.

Richard Mullaney – Oregon State – $4,500
A guy I like and gets some balls thrown his way that aren’t going to Brandin Cooks. If Mullaney scores a TD you’ll be a genius.

Kevonte Martin-Manley – Iowa – $4,000
Had two punt return TD’s in his last game that boosted his value. Is involved in the passing game, but Iowa throws it a lot less than some of these Pac-12 teams.

Nelson Spruce – WR – Colorado – $3,750
Doesn’t get as many looks as top WR Paul Richardson, but Spruce has been good in Colorado’s two games so far.

L’Damian Washington – WR – Missouri – $3,250
Had 5/77/1 TD last game. See Marcus Lucas.

J.J. Worton – UCF – $3,250
Has caught a TD each of the first 3 games of the season. Interesting.

Marcus Lucas – WR – Missouri – $3,000
Had 10 catches in his last game and Missouri throws the ball around a lot.

Bralon Addison – WR – Oregon – $2,500
It’s hard to get the ball in Oregon because they have so many playmakers. Addison does have 2 TD’s this season and the Vegas over/under for the game is 84. Wow.
