Week 5 College Football Daily Fantasy RB Picks

Many of the games top running backs had limited work loads due to weak opponents last week. Look for the studs to get rolling again in some interesting matchups in week 5. Some good values on fantasy site Draft Kings. Post your sleepers in the comments section if you have any.

Bishop Sankey – Washington– $8,750
Arizona Wildcats at Washington Huskies
VEGAS LINE: Washington -7.5
Last Week: 4 Carries 77 Yards 1 TD
Don’t let last week fool you, Sankey is the #1 guy in Washington. It was an easy game for WU last week so Sankey only played in the 1st quarter. Look for a big boost in production this week. An absolute stud, this guy will produce and is worth getting in your lineup if you can afford it. He is listed as “Probable” on the Washington injury report with a shoulder injury. Not sure when that injury happened as I stopped watching that game after it was 28-0 in the 1st quarter. Sankey should be good to roll with Saturday.

Duke Johnson – Miami – $8,000
Miami Hurricanes at South Florida Bulls
VEGAS LINE: Miami -18.5
Last Week: 8 Carries 59 Yards 1 TD
Similar to Sankey, Duke only played a few series before exiting the game. Should be more work for Duke this week in a more competitive game vs. South Florida. Duke might be a little over priced on Draft Kings, but might be a better pick on other fantasy sites.

Marion Grice – Arizona State – $8,000
USC Trojans at Arizona State Sun Devils
VEGAS LINE: ASU -6.5
Last Week: 17 Carries 50 Yards 1 TD – 6 Rec 32 Yards 1 TD
Grice is a consistent pass catcher which makes him valuable in PPR scoring. He doesn’t average a lot of yards per carry but has 8 total TD’s this year through 3 games. Don’t look for huge yards vs. a decent USC defense, but he more than likely scores at least 1 TD.

De’Anthony Thomas – Oregon – $8,000
California Golden Bears at Oregon Ducks
VEGAS LINE: Oregon -37
Last Week: No Game – 2013 Game Log
One of the most electrifying players in all of college football. Only negative thing about Thomas is that he typically gets about 15 touches per game. The Cal Bears defense is horrible and Thomas will have wide open spaces to run wild. Not a bad price at $8,000 as he could easily get multiple TD’s in this game.

Ka’Deem Carey – Arizona – $7,750
Arizona Wildcats at Washington Huskies
VEGAS LINE: Washington -9
Last Week: No Game – 2013 Game Log
After getting suspended week 1, Carey has had two great games. This could be a shootout in Washington where Carey gets 25-30 touches.

Storm Woods – Oregon State – $7,500 Do Not Play HURT!
Colorado Buffaloes at Oregon State Beavers
VEGAS LINE: Oregon State -10.5
Woods is hurt and will most likely not play. Do not start him.

Tyler Gaffney – Stanford – $6,500
Stanford Cardinal at Washington State Cougars
VEGAS LINE: Stanford -10
Last Week: 18 Carries 87 Yards 2 TD – 1 Rec 4 Yards
Scored a couple TD’s last week, but also splits time in the backfield at Stanford. Good solid option as he gets goaline work, but is athletic enough to break a big run.

Daniel Hamm – Virginia – $6,500
Virginia Cavaliers at Pittsburgh Panthers
VEGAS LINE: Pittsburgh -6.5
Last Week: 21 Carries 136 Yards 2 TD – 1 Rec 11 Yards
The Freshman walk-on got his first carries of his career last week. Keep in mind that it was a soft game for Virginia and Hamm is not considered their “starter”. Not sure what to make of the situation there, but I wouldn’t expect a huge workload for Hamm in this one, but he will get some looks. Pittsburgh’s defense got lit up by Duke last week, but starting Hamm would still be a gamble.

Jeremy Smith – Oklahoma State – $6,500
Oklahoma State Cowboys at West Virginia Mountaineers
VEGAS LINE: Oklahoma State -19
Last Week: No Game – 2013 Game Log
Smith isn’t a huge gamebreaker but has scored 6 TD’s in 3 games. Should be room to run vs. West Virginia this week and maybe Smith will be in line for some additional carries in this game.

Melvin Gordon – Wisconsin – $6,500
Wisconsin Badgers at Ohio State Buckeyes
VEGAS LINE: Ohio State -8
Last Week: 16 Carries 147 Yards 3 TD
The only negative thing about Gordon is that he splits time with several backs at Wisconsin. Gordon is electric and can break a TD just about on every carry.

James Conner – Pittsburgh – $6,500
Virginia Cavaliers at Pittsburgh Panthers
VEGAS LINE: Pittsburgh -6.5
Last Week: 26 Carries 173 Yards 1 TD
Lit up a weak Duke defense last week. Has had a good last two weeks as he’s seen his workload increase. Splits time a little bit in Pittsburgh and is a true freshman.  His big game last week means he probably gets another 20 touches against Virginia.

Charles Sims – West Virginia – $6,250
Oklahoma State Cowboys at West Virginia Mountaineers
VEGAS LINE: Oklahoma State -19
Last Week: 8 Carries 35 Yards – 8 Receptions 35 Yards
No TD’s last week and only had 75 total yards. He saved it by getting 8 receptions as West Virginia got blown out 37-0 against Maryland. He shares carries a little bit at WVU and also, the offense has been really bad there. This could be another tough day for Sims against a good Oklahoma State team.

T.J. Yeldon – Alabama – $6,250
Ole Miss Rebels at Alabama Crimson Tide
VEGAS LINE: Alabama -17
Last Week: 7 Carries 49 Yards – 1 Rec 9 Yards
Sat out the first quarter last week because Nick Saban was pissed at him for a throat slash penalty from the previous game. Be sure to check and make sure Saban isn’t still mad at him for the incident before starting him this week.

Jordan Hall – Ohio State – $6,250
Wisconsin Badgers at Ohio State Buckeyes
VEGAS LINE: Ohio State -8
Last Week: 4 Carries 20 Yards 2 TD
Limited work last week because of the bad opponent and Kenny Guiton was busy throwing TD’s. Has been an absolute TD machine this season, and while Wisconsin has a tough defense, look for Hall to get another TD or two this weekend.

Todd Gurley – Georgia – $6,250
LSU Tigers at Georgia Bulldogs
VEGAS LINE: Georgia -3
Last Week: 21 Carries 91 Yards 1 TD – 2 Rec 20 Yards
I like Gurley who is a big back with some speed. He fumbled last week and maybe underperformed against a softer opponenet. Look for Gurley to be running hard against rival LSU on Saturday. Good prices for Gurley and Hall this week on Draft Kings and quite a few people might have them in their lineup.

Kenneth Farrow – Houston – $6,250 – Check Injury Status!
Houston Cougars at UTSA Roadrunners
VEGAS LINE: Houston -3
Farrow got hurt in week 3, so be sure to make sure he is playing before you start him.  Ryan Jackson is considered the primary backup in Houston.

Tre Madden – Arizona State – $6,000
USC Trojans at Arizona State Sun Devils
VEGAS LINE: ASU -6.5
Last Week: 24 Carries 93 Yards 1 TD – 3 Rec 15 Yards
Has been very consistent this year getting lots of touches each week. USC doesn’t have a great offense, but Madden can usually find the endzone each week. Arizona State has a decent defense, but Madden should still get close to 100 yards in this one.

Terron Ward– Oregon State – $6,000
Colorado Buffaloes at Oregon State Beavers
VEGAS LINE: Oregon State -10.5
Last Week: 12 Carries 26 Yards 1 TD – 1 Rec 10 Yards 1 TD
Only 36 yards last week, but saved it with 2 total TD’s. Doesn’t get the ball a lot because Oregon State likes to throw a ton. Is playing because starter Storm Woods is hurt.

D.J. Foster – Arizona State – $6,000
USC Trojans at Arizona State Sun Devils
VEGAS LINE: ASU -6.5
Last Week: 0 Carries 0 Yards – 8 Rec 80 Yards
Doesn’t get many carries because of Marion Grice. Got 8 receptions last week despite no carries. Has 19 catches this year and only 6 carries. Very risky starting option as he probably should be priced slightly cheaper.
