For week #2 of daily fantasy college football selections, we have week 1 stats to reference – so that should help take some of the guessing games out. Unfortunately, many of the daily fantasy sports websites had crazy (cheap) salaries on most players and had incredibly (high) salary caps – so picking a dream team was easy in week 1.
Now the daily fantasy sites are basing college football player salaries on this season stats too – so you have to pick your players even more carefully going forward. The tool I use are the Las Vegas betting lines. First I look for the high over/under lines – preferably without a huge favorite – as players tend to get taken out and the winning team takes it easy usually in the 4th quarter. So the higher the over/under and the closer the spread – the better.
Here are some of the high over/under games. Some are cupcake match-ups, but some are perfect to add some players to your daily lineups this week.
Navy Midshipmen at Indiana Hoosiers
Favorite: Indiana -8.5
Last week Indiana beat Indiana St. 73-35. This is Navy’s first game.
Indiana QB: Nate Sudfeld 12/17 219 Yards 4 TD’s 1 INT
Indiana RB: Tevin Coleman 14 Carries 169 Yards 2 TD’s
Indiana put up 73 points last week, and are only about a 1 score favorite this week – meaning they should be passing/trying to score late in the game. Nate Sudfeld had a great week last week with 4 TD’s and RB Tevin Coleman got the bulk of the carries.
Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders at North Carolina Tar Heels
Favorite: North Carolina -21.5
Last week North Carolina lost to South Carolina 27-10
North Carolina QB: Bryn Renner 26/43 194 Yards 1 TD
North Carolina throws a lot – however they are a favorite by 3 scores in this one, so they probably won’t be passing the ball down the field to score late in the game … so if you pick Renner, you’re hoping he gets all his TD’s in the first 3 quarters.
Toledo Rockets at Missouri Tigers
Favorite: Missouri -14
Last week Missouri beat Murray St. 58-14 – Toledo lost to Florida 24-6
Missouri QB: James Franklin 26/38 318 Yards 3 TD’s – 6 Carries 44 Yards
Missouri RB: Henry Josey 13 Carries 113 Yards 1 TD
Missouri RB: Russell Hansbrough 8 Carries 104 Yards 2 TD’s
Missouri WR: Dorial Green-Beckham 4 Receptions 83 Yards
Missouri had an awesome week 1 and should continue to roll in week 2. They are only a 2 score favorite, meaning QB James Franklin could be trying to move the ball down field late in the game.
West Virginia Mountaineers at Oklahoma Sooners
Favorite: Oklahoma -20.5
Last week Auburn beat Washington St. 31-24.
Oklahoma QB: Trevor Knight 11/28 86 Yards 3 TD’s — 13 Carries 103 Yards
Oklahoma QB Trevor Knight dominated the box score for the Sooners in week 1 – and is a decent play in multi-QB leagues because of his rushing yards. They are predicted to blow out the Mountaineers so he could be relieved like last week.
Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns at Kansas State Wildcats
Favorite: Kansas State -12.5
Last week Kansas State lost 24-21 to ND State. LA Lafayette lost to Arkansas 14-31.
Kansas State QB: Jake Waters 21/29 280 Yards – 2 TD’s 2 INT’s
Kansas State WR: Tyler Lockett 7 Receptions 113 Yards 1 TD
Kansas State WR: Tramaine Thompson 6 Receptions 108 Yards 1 TD
Kansas State likes to throw the ball and they aren’t a massive favorite – so the game might still have throwing opportunities late in the game. Jake Waters is an okay play in deeper or low cap leagues.
Southern Miss Golden Eagles at Nebraska Cornhuskers
Favorite: Nebraska -28
Last week Nebraska beat Wyoming 37-34
Nebraska QB: Taylor Martinez 17/22 155 Yards 3 TD’s 1 INT – 16 Carries 80 Yards
Nebraska RB: Ameer Abdullah 19 Carries 114 Yards
Nebraska RB: Imani Cross 13 Carries 105 Yards 2 TD’s
Nebraska RB: Terrell Newby 15 Carries 76 Yards
Nebraska has a triple headed running attack that includes QB Taylor Martinez. If you’re in a pinch, the RB’s are not bad options because they are a huge favorite to blow-out Southern Miss and should be running late in the game.
Arkansas State Red Wolves at Auburn Tigers
Favorite: Auburn -12
Last week Oklahoma beat LA Monroe 34-0
Auburn RB: Corey Grant 9 Carries – 149 Yards 1 TD
Auburn RB: Tre Mason 16 Carries – 73 Yards 1 TD
Auburn RB: Cameron Artis-Payne 10 Carries – 52 Yards
Arkansas State RB: David Oku 16 Carries – 124 Yards 2 TD’s
Arkansas State RB: Sirgregory Thornton 9 Carries – 112 Yards 2 TD’s
Risky picking players from Auburn, despite the high Vegas o/u line. They have a 3 headed running attack and picking the one that goes off would be difficult. Oku got most of the touches week one for Arkansas State, but other chipped in with big games too.
